Some Liquids Freeze When You Heat Them
Normally a liquid freezes when you cool it. However, there are a handful of liquids that do the opposite and crystallize when you heat them. Dr. Saika-Voivod’s group studies a model, formulated originally to understand the anomalous properties of liquid water, and finds that it exhibits just this behavior at particular pressures.
