Effects of Anthropogenic Perturbations of the Global Carbon and Nitrogen Cycles
Professor Fennel will discuss how the fundamental physical and chemical properties of the ocean are being altered and how these changes will affect marine ecosystems. Numerical ocean models that accurately simulate physical, chemical and biological processes are key tools in her research. Given the prospect of global climate change, its anticipated impact on the global economy and our quality of life, and the important role of the ocean in the climate system, an improved predictive understanding is urgently needed.
